New 2026 Lexus ES 500e – Reimagined Japanese Luxury Sedan

2026年7月14日

The completely redesigned 2026 Lexus ES represents the most significant evolution of the luxury sedan since its debut. Entering its eighth generation, the new ES introduces a bold design language, enhanced technology, and the option of both self-charging hybrid and fully electric powertrains, signaling a new chapter for Lexus.

The front fascia adopts an updated interpretation of the brand’s signature spindle design, complemented by slim L-shaped LED daytime running lights that give the sedan a sharp, modern appearance. Hybrid variants feature a functional lower cooling intake, while the electric models benefit from a smoother, grille-free front end that enhances aerodynamic efficiency.

Viewed from the side, the new ES features a more streamlined profile with a coupe-inspired roofline and sculpted bodywork that helps reduce drag. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar and redesigned L-shaped taillights provide a wider, more sophisticated look.

Lexus has paid close attention to aerodynamics, incorporating a fully enclosed underbody, airflow-guiding fins, flush exterior details, and active grille shutters on electric variants. These improvements reduce wind resistance, improve high-speed stability, and contribute to a quieter cabin.

Inside, the 2026 ES embraces a minimalist yet luxurious design inspired by Lexus’ Omotenashi hospitality philosophy. The dashboard features a clean layout with hidden touch-sensitive controls that remain concealed until the vehicle is switched on, creating a sleek and uncluttered appearance.

Technology has also taken a major step forward. A new 14-inch infotainment touchscreen serves as the centerpiece of the cabin, while a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster provides essential driving information. Lexus has also introduced a redesigned steering wheel with a more compact shape and integrated multifunction controls. Higher-spec models are equipped with a premium 17-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound audio system for an enhanced listening experience.

The new ES lineup offers both self-charging hybrid and battery-electric powertrains, with all-wheel drive available across select variants, including the ES 350e and ES 500e electric models, as well as the ES 300h and ES 350h hybrids.

The fully electric ES 350e delivers up to 224 horsepower, while the range-topping ES 500e produces 343 horsepower and features Lexus’ Direct4 all-wheel-drive system. Depending on the variant, the electric sedan is equipped with either a 71 kWh or 72 kWh battery pack, offering a driving range of up to 581 km for the ES 350e and 529 km for the ES 500e. Charging capabilities include 22 kW AC charging and DC fast charging of up to 150 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Hybrid models continue to use a refined 2.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an eAxle electric motor and a newly developed lithium-ion battery. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, with total system outputs of 196 horsepower or 247 horsepower depending on the model.
