New 2024 Suzuki Fronx – Best Budget AWD Crossover SUV
Suzuki is finally introducing the new compact SUV “FRONX” to Japan. This is the second model from the brand to be shipped to Japan, after Baleno.
The FRONX uses the lightweight platform “HARTECT” and has a monocoque structure. The body dimensions are 3995mm long, 1765mm wide, 1550mm high and wheelbase is 2520mm. The minimum turning radius is 4.8m, making it easy to drive even in crowded city areas.
the exterior has a powerful and thick front grille and front and rear styling that emphasizes the lateral protrusion, expressing the strength and presence of an SUV. The lights are divided into upper and lower parts, and have a horizontal three-eye design that continues from the top of the grille to the side area. The lower lights are low beam, and the three-eye style is divided into two sections, creating a distinctive and eye-catching appearance. At the rear, the taillights are designed in a triple-lamp configuration resembling the number “7,” accompanied by a horizontal signature lamp. The gently sloping area around the tailgate enhances the vehicle’s sense of freedom and sophistication.
The interior has a high-quality finish that goes beyond the compact SUV class, and uses a unique two-tone design with a black base and Bordeaux accents. It also features silver and piano black panels and leather combination seats with double stitching, creating a sense of luxury like a high-end car
the Japan-spec Fronx gets an Advanced Driver Assistance System suite. This kit comprises a variety of features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Cruise Control, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Adding to it, the Japanese-spec Fronx gets Front Parking Sensors, Heated Seats, An Electronic Parking Brake with Hill Hold, and more. The Indian model is missing out on this safety suite.
Under the hood, the Fronx All Wheel Drive houses a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol unit. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This is the same engine offered with cars like the Ertiga and Brezza in India producing 103bhp/138Nm.
the Fronx for Japan will come with Suzuki’s AllGrip All Wheel Drive technology for better traction. It snows in most parts of Japan, which would make All Wheel Drive a necessary safety feature during such conditions. The AllGrip All Wheel Drive system comes with multiple off-road modes including Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock. The rear suspension system has also been reworked on the Japanese Fronx with a rear torsion beam setup with a unique layout to accommodate the All Wheel Drive systern.
