The new Corolla Touring Sports features an all-new interior designed to create a spacious, modern and cohesive interior, in which new materials, colors and details are combined to offer the highest visual and tactile quality.
Special attention was paid to the version tailored for the European market, offering the customer the highest level of noticeable quality.
One of the key factors of the new platform is the ability to lower the seating position of the front seats, further lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity. This creates a position for the driver that integrates him much more into the driving dynamics and gives him a good driving experience.
The new Corolla Touring Sports reveals a distance between the two rows of seats of 928mm, which means that the rear passengers benefit from a generous amount of space. The generous trunk volume, which according to VDA is 598 liters, offers plenty of space and comfort for holidays, leisure activities or everyday use.
The Corolla’s new exterior design was created at the recently opened Design Center in Zaventem, Belgium. Thanks to the introduction of the TNGA platform, the new station wagon, the Touring Sports, is no longer just a variant of the hatchback, but has evolved into a model in its own right.
The Corolla Touring Sports has a wheelbase of 2700mm and the segment’s best legroom for rear passengers.
The station wagon has a refined, sensuous appearance and an elegant yet robust curved roofline. This sporty profile is reinforced by the wide wheel arches, which are rimmed to allow the wheels to be positioned further out to emphasize the new Corolla’s wider position and lower center of gravity.
At the rear, the muscular rear shoulders, the full LED lights and the sloping rear window form the appearance of the new Toyota.
Exclusive to this segment, the dynamic design of the Corolla Touring Sport is underscored by a range of four optional two-tone colours, available from launch. The two-tone colors combine the body color with black elements such as the roof, the roof pillars and the front lower grille surround.
The revised 1.8l hybrid system stands for intuitive, responsive and self-charging EV technology with low running costs. While the system retains customer benefits, the 2.0 liter system takes full advantage of the added ride comfort, stability, handling and driving pleasure of the newly introduced Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform.
The new Corolla is equipped with the proven MacPherson struts on the front axle and a new multi-link rear axle. New valve timing technology is also used in the shock absorbers and, for the first time, Adaptive Variable Damping (AVS) is available on the Corolla. The low-mounted engine, the low hip point of the seats and the arrangement of the hybrid battery in the rear seats allowed the center of gravity to be kept low, which has a positive effect on handling and driving comfort.
Depending on the equipment, the Corolla is available with the first ever 3-D speedometer display, a premium head-up display, the JBL GreenEdge Premium Sound System, a wireless mobile phone charging station or the Toyota Touch multimedia system, which makes the journey easier for all occupants becomes a pleasure.
