Toyota reveals “first-ever” GR Corolla
2023 Toyota GR Corolla is finally here, and it brings all the GR Yaris goodies in a bigger body with more power. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The only transmission options is a six-speed manual, and every version comes with all-wheel drive. The all-wheel-drive system has settings for changing the torque split to 60 front, 40 rear; 50 front, 50 rear; or 30 front, 70 rear. Available as an option are limited-slip front and rear differentials. The chassis receives additional strength from more welds and adhesives, and the body gets wider fenders and flares. Upgraded brakes with fixed four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers stop 18-inch wheels wrapped in 235-mm Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. A special Circuit Edition is available for the first model year only with a bulging, vented hood, forged carbon fiber roof and other exterior accents, a shift knob with Akio Toyoda’s nickname signature “Morizo,” and every available option. Pricing has not been announced, but will be revealed later this year closer to when the car goes on sale.
